This is a perfect example of a custom job that our experts at Heath Refinishing love to do. One of our clients in Frisco needed a storage unit built to match existing shelving in her closet.
Steven, one of our professionals, sketched a design beforehand to make sure it would fit perfectly and match the existing shelving. Using medium density fiberboard for the structure and select pine boards for the trim, he cut the pieces with a table saw to insure exact precision. He then assembled the parts using a premium wood glue and finish nails. After filling the nail holes he then sprayed the entire piece with primer (high-quality Zinsser oil based primer) which seals the wood and promotes adhesion of the paint.
The next step was to sand the primer to make the surface smooth and then fill any remaining nail holes or imperfections in the wood. He then applied two coats of white oil based enamel paint onto the piece. Steven decided to use oil based enamel because it is more durable than water based paint, and this also matched the customers existing shelving. Each coat was allowed 24 hours to dry with a light sanding in between coats. The last step was to attach the drawer fronts and add some drawer slides.
Needless to say, the customer was thrilled! The finished product was exactly what she needed to match her existing closet furniture. And look how beautiful it turned out!
