We know many of our clients like to keep their house in tip-top shape. Even though they leave the expert woodworking to the Heath Refinishing crew, there’s still many things that can be done without the help of a professional. Some of those household tasks require the use of a ladder. Here’s 4 awesome tips for using ladders around your home.
Stuck on Top
It’s quite frustrating to drop a needed screw or toll from the top of a ladder. One way to put a stop to that is to glue a magnet strip to the top rung of the ladder. It will safely hold on to all your fasteners and small tools until you need them. When it comes to larger tools, secure them to the ladder’s tool shelf with large rubber bands or tubing.
Off on the Right Foot
A scrap of outdoor carpet wrapped around the bottom rung of a ladder makes a handy mat for wiping the soles of your shoes before you ascend. It will also let you know you’ve reached the bottom when climbing down. Secure the carpet scrap with duct tap and replace with a fresh piece when needed.
Boot Up a Ladder
Set the feet of a ladder in a pair of old rubber boots to give ia skid-free footing on smooth surfaces.
Don’t Leave Your Mark
Cushion the tops of a ladder’s rails with an old pair of socks, gloves, or a couple of bunched up t-shirts to prevent it from damaging vinyl siding and wood shingles or leaving marks or scratching on interior walls. One less thing to repair!
